My Year of the Life of Leisure

I left my job, left my apartment, sold most everything in that apartment and embarked on a year of travelling and leisure. I am working on writing a couple of books. This might be one of them... But then, my chief pursuit is leisure, so who knows exactly what will happen.

Little updates

The Patagonian Express installments are postponed for a little longer. Since I am now spending a great deal of time making decisions and doing research for the next legs of my trip. I will briefly be passing through the US, and visiting a friend in NY, and then heading on to New Zealand. If you have any good recs for NZ, let me know.

Argentinian boys suck. Well. One in particular. I never heard back from S. So much for a little end-of-Argentinian-trip romance.

Grrrr.

In New Zealand, I can recommend the area around Nelson, Abel Tasman National Park. There's a house along there somewhere, think it's just called 'John's house' - maybe near Golden Beach (can't remember the names any more) - which is simply great to stay at.
Further down the South Island is Mt. Aspiring. The walk along the valley is easy, beautiful and there's a good hut to stay at. More adventurous walks nearby.
And if you fancy a vigorous hiking tour with a small group and local guide, try Safari Adventure Travel (think it's called), based in Christchurch. They're superb.
The island off the southernmost tip of NZ is well worth visiting and you've got a good chance of seeing kiwis there. Chatham Islands way out east is a weird experience but worth it if you want to see some rare birds (both feathered and human) and a very wild sea.

Didn't mean to take up so much space but I just love NZ. Hope you're ankle's better, CD arrives and that guy turns up after all.
